Snake in the house!

Our family here in Jasper had quite the fright last week...
Here's what happened-
We were all sitting in the living room getting ready to go to bed, when dad started calling the boys into the dining room because he found a rattle snake. We were all a little shocked that there was a snake in the house, so we made our way to the dining room to see it for ourselves. (we were all a little scared... or at least I was). We all kept our distance from this frightening little creature (I made sure to stay at least 10 ft. away from it) and we had a conversation about how to get rid of the nasty little creature. (dad also made sure to point out the rattle to us)

Isaac carefully positioned a bucket to throw over the little snake and Aaron held the newspaper and cardboard that we were going to slide under the bucket.

The conversation we had at this piont went something like this-
family member 1: careful, you don't want it to get away

family member 2: scoop the snake into the bucket.

family member 1: Don't scoop the snake, that's a good way to get bit. (eyeroll)

family member 3: Thow the bucket over the snake and slide the cardboard box underneath it.

family member 1: The cardboard will give it too much room to slither out, use a newspaper.

then Isaac carefully threw the bucket over the snake and slid the newspaper underneath it while we all watched in apprehension.

family member 4 (me): IT'S GETTING OUT ISAAC! Hold the newspaper tighter.

family member 3: yeah, I see getting out too.

After Isaac secured the newspaper over the bucket a little better he, Aaron and Mom carried the snake outside with a shovel in hand so that they could kill it.

What happened next was even more shocking then finding out there was a snake in the house. Isaac, Aaron and Mom walked back into the house and declared that the snake was not real, it was FAKE!!! When they tried to cut it with the shovel they realized that it was made of rubber.

When I heard the news that the terrifying snake was actually fake, I laughed pretty hard. I was also a little embarressed because I was the one that informed Isaac that the snake was trying to escape from the bucket.
The lighting in this house must not be very good. :)

Not only would I have been scared I would have been in my room crying out,"Is it gone yet?" While I was ontop of my bed searching the room for any more snakes, shaking with fear. It made a great story though, you are so funny.
Thank you so much for your help with my talk. I thought that it was perfect and am using it. You are going to make a wonderful missionary. You have such a strong testimony and a wonderful way of talking with people (I can tell from your blogs and from having spoken with you in person). Thank you again for sharing.
